We Went To The NYC Halloween Parade 2013

BEING A PART OF IT IS BETTER THAN BEING A SPECTATOR.

So for some crazy Global-Warming-Is-Going-To-Kill-Us-All reason, it was 70 degrees here in NYC on Halloween.

It is normally FREEZING cold, and because of that, I have never wanted to walk in the parade.

But this year I did!

So, When I got home from an audition I had, I asked Laura if she wanted to just throw together a costume and GO FOR IT! She Said Yes!

We looked around the apartment for what we could wear as costumes, and found a few things. Eventually, we came up with Jayne Cobb and River Tam from FIREFLY.

Not many people knew who we were, but those who did RAN UP to us and sang songs, fist-bumped, and quoted lines from the show. It was super fun to walk in the parade:



What was really wild is that there were so many people lined up to watch the parade, 8 and 10 people deep, huddled closely, hoping to get little glimpses of the creative people go by.

It was FAR more fun, exciting, and entertaining to walk because we could see everything, AND be a part of it.

That's the Life lesson there- BEING A PART OF IT IS BETTER THAN BEING A SPECTATOR.

After all the hoopla about the government shutdown, and the bribery, and Obama being a secret muslim, maybe it's time we look at the bigger picture.

Midsummer Night's Dream in October, and it's wonderful.

I do a bunch of Improv, and what can be so magical about it is that there's the possibility of failure.

I just saw a production of Shakespeare 's Midsummer Night's Dream at the Secret Theatre in long Island City which captured that essence of risk along with the beauty of Shakespeare.

The cast has rehearsed all of the parts, and they don't know who they're playing until the audience pulls their names out of a hat.

The night I saw was WONDERFUL.

I loved the direction, and the performers gave us their joy in performance. I eagerly want to see it again, when the casting will be different, but the caliber of performance the same.

Bob Orci talking about a new Star Trek TV series... MAYBE

They SAY Star Trek might come back to TV, basically because of the successes of Sleepy Hollow and AGENTS OF SHIELD... but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, I would love for a good Trek to come back, but I wish I could get JOSS WHEDON to write it!

I really didn't enjoy ENTERPRISE, despite that the fanboys are so loyal they pretend to like it,
I have to admit to really not caring about anything that happened on it.

I DO however, like the JJ ABRAMS ones, even though they're totally crazy; I think it's just a sign of the times. The more calm stuff just doesn't work on today's crowd.

What Kind of OWL Book- Sneak (B)eak!

My first kids book, "What Kind Of Penguin Are You" is doing well on Amazon and in print, and it's getting some great reviews.
I really love it, and in it I tease an upcoming "What Kind Of Owl Are You" book, and I thought I'd improve on the formula a bit by getting a better artist who draws by hand.
Here are 2 of the new OWLS that will be in the book:

As you can see, the drawings are done by hand this time, and a little more intricate.
